Gels are materials where polymer chains form the links of a network immersed in a typically liquid environment. The polymer chains are cross-linked at the microscopic level by chemical bonds or weaker physical bonds. Supreme CareTM ECG Conductive Gel formulation provides better application property and stability. It is widely used in electrocardiography. This gel greatly affects the signals from the skin to electrode. It is greaseless, odourless and non-staining. In addition to getting information about cardiac status, respiratory rate monitoring and ventilator triggering are also possible from it. The gel can be easily removed after use. It forms the semi-rigid system in which the movement of the dispersing medium is restricted by an interlacing three-dimensional network of particles or solvated macro-molecules in the dispersed phase. The interlacing and consequential internal friction is responsible for increased viscosity and the semisolid state. It is evaluated by parameters such as pH, viscosity, spreadability, skin irritation studies, sound speed, electric impendence, sound attenuation, sound impendence frequency.
It is designed to change properties (e.g. swelling/collapse or solution-to-gel transitions) in response to externally applied triggers, such as temperature, ionic strength, solvent polarity, electric/magnetic field, light, or small (bio) molecules It is also highly biocompatible. It achieves the aim of making a good contact with skin altogether and operates by capacitive coupling, capable of measuring ECG signals through hair, or ECG signals through clothing. Its softness, smartness, and the capacity to store water make it unique gel.

⇒
Visual Clarity and Appearance
Clarity is one of the most important characteristic features of this gels. This formulation was of high clarity, transparent, smooth homogeneous texture, and glossy appearance.
⇒
Transparency
The formulated gel is transparent.
⇒
Homogeneity
The formulation was tested for the homogeneity by visual appearance and by touch, result showed appearance and touch was good and non greasy.
⇒
pH of the Gel
The pH of the gel is in between 6.8 to 7 which is good for skin.
⇒
Thermal Stability Test
There is no effect of rise of temperature on its formulation physicochemical properties.
⇒
Removal
The gel applied on skin is easily removable by rubbing with tissue paper
⇒
Spreadability Test
This gel has good spreadable property.
⇒
Viscosity
The viscosity of gel was very good which indicates that the gel is easily spreadable by small amounts of shear.
⇒
Skin Irritation Test
The gel shows no redness, oedema, inflammation and irritation during irritancy studies. This gel is safe to use for skin.
⇒
Accelerated Stability Testing
The formulation was kept both at room and elevated temperature and observed on 0th, 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th day for the all evaluation parameters. The stability results showed that the gel is good.
⇒
Microbial Growth Test
There were no signs of microbial growth after incubation period of 24 hours at 37ºC for the sample gel compared with the control.
⇒
Conductivity Test
The gel is having good conductivity.
